BIRTHFIT Women's Fitness - October!

This course is an ongoing fitness course for any woman who wants to train intentionally. 

  • If you're pregnant, we'll be supporting you through those changes and helping you prepare for labor, birth, and postpartum;

  • if you're postpartum (these courses can only be joined AFTER you've completed the BIRTHFIT Postpartum Series (either Breath & Flow or traditional - ideally both!) or the online Conscious Core Program), we'll continue supporting your healing process;

  • if you're preconception, we'll help you in your preparation;

  • if you're outside of the immediate Motherhood Transition, we'll be noting where you are in your cycle to support your body's hormonal needs!  

Working with a BIRTHFIT Coach or Professional and connecting with other women, you'll create intentional movement practices; embody the BIRTHFIT four pillars of fitness, nutrition, mindset, and connection; enhance the three metabolic pathways; and support your body in your specific journey.

No matter what your previous fitness level is, we welcome you to move with us (and bring a girlfriend!).

Our friends at TAPS (Triangle Area Parenting Support) are having their third annual costume party at Hope Valley Baptist Church in Durham and we’re so excited to participate again this year!

We’re kicking off the morning with a family-friendly workout at 9:30 .

  • honor your postpartum body,

  • establish a solid core foundation,

  • wake up your posterior chain,

  • and enhance your posture through safe, effective functional movements that transfer into everyday life tasks.

Come prepared to move, sweat, and connect with other new moms for two weekly classes on Mondays and Fridays from 10:00-11:15am, 11/4 through 12/2 (no class 11/29).

Please note that this event is only open to BIRTHFIT NC participants.  If you receive this newsletter but have not yet participated in class, then you are not eligible to attend this event.  

For those of you new to the BIRTHFIT NC scene: twice per year, we have a "cry circle" where you come and share as much of your struggle as you want, and there are inevitably tears.

Born out of the need to support those in our community who communicated trying to "get it together", I recognized that most (none?) of us have a place to just go and intentionally get everything out and just get a good hard sob out of our systems. So I made one!

No registration necessary.

If you've been debating about getting the online swim program and want to check out a local place to get your swim on for the rest of the summer, come join us!

The program was designed for a pregnant body, but is appropriate if you have already done intentional postpartum healing with us through the BIRTHFIT Postpartum Series or the online BIRTHFIT Postpartum Program.


Please note: This is not a swim lesson or water aerobics, but you'll be swimming laps. Wear your swimsuit, bring your goggles, and pack a water bottle. We won’t have childcare available for this class.

Climb Out of the Darkness 2019

Climb Out of the Darkness is committed to bring people together, united, to honor the struggle to overcome Perinatal Mood or Anxiety Disorders. 1 in 5 new moms suffer from PMADs. Let’s shine our lights together to bring hope and wellness to parents in Raleigh.

Our team is raising money to benefit Postpartum Support International and Moms Supporting Moms, a local support group for moms with postpartum mood disorders.

Join the team and raise money and awareness! You can join the team, raise money and pledge to walk by pressing the "Sign up" button in the upper right hand corner of the Climb Out of the Darkness 2019 Facebook page. If you raise $100 or more, you will win an awesome T-shirt!! Please note, though, that there is no obligation to raise money: we would love to have you attend and walk with us whether or not you raise money.

We are mothers, survivors, supporters, and providers. We climb to let every mom know: You are not alone. You are not to blame. With help, you will be well.

We will gather at the shelter starting at 9:30 AM for some activities and then the walk (Climb) will start at 10:30 AM - it is a mile long on a shaded trail. It is stroller friendly! Snacks and water will be provided.

BONUS: We’ll be meeting beforehand to have a community workout in the park! Bring a friend and get a feel for a BIRTHFIT workout before we gather to Climb Out of the Darkness.

  • if you're postpartum (these courses can only be joined AFTER you've completed the BIRTHFIT Postpartum Series (either Breath & Flow or traditional - ideally both!)), we'll continue supporting your healing process;

  • if you're preconception, we'll help you in your preparation;

  • if you're outside of the immediate Motherhood Transition, we'll be noting where you are in your cycle to support your body's hormonal needs!  

Working with a BIRTHFIT Coach or Professional and connecting with other women, you'll create intentional movement practices; embody the BIRTHFIT four pillars of fitness, nutrition, mindset, and connection; enhance the three metabolic pathways; and support your body in your specific journey.

No matter what your previous fitness level is, we welcome you to move with us (and bring a girlfriend!).

Spring Cleaning Detox

I’ve spent the past decade working to clean up most aspects of my life. The aim is progress rather than perfection (let's face it, my purple hair isn't made with beets and blueberries). But I’ve been trying to get rid of environmental toxins like formaldehyde, pesticides, phthalates, VOCs, and other cancer-causing, hormone-disrupting things commonly found in homes and yards in America.

I’ll admit, it can get a bit exhausting searching for it on my own or going to multiple events. So instead of telling you all of the scary stuff that’s out there and leaving you to fend for yourself, I want to bring lots of info into one event.

We have several different speakers ranging from herbal bitters to toxin-free cleaning, from Traditional Chinese Medicine to infrared saunas, and more.

The first half of the event will be presentations from our panel, followed by a Q&A session (which we’ll broadcast on our Facebook and Instagram pages!), and then starting around 2:30, we’ll open it up for some mingling, conversation, and getting to know each presenter’s expertise.

In a two-day fun, intense, and intentionally short weekend course, you and your birth partner will become educated and prepared for birth and the postpartum period.

Class will be Saturday and Sunday 4/6 and 4/7 from 9-5:30 (we will break for lunch 12:30-2). 

  • You will encounter the four pillars of BIRTHFIT, which are fitness, nutrition, mindset, and connection.

  • You will experience functional mobility, natural movement, and breath work.

  • You will discover your own birth desires and design your personal Queen in Training postpartum plan. 

  • This is a comprehensive childbirth education class for Mom and her birth partner.

This class will meet on Fridays from 10-11:30am, 4/5 through 4/26. 

  • We'll start with breath work and evolve into full body functional motor patterns.

  • You will establish a solid core foundation, wake up your posterior chain, and enhance your posture through safe, effective movements that transfer to any activity in your daily life.

  • Come ready to move and connect with your breath and body again.

  • Non-mobile babies are welcome.

  • This course can serve as its own BIRTHFIT Postpartum Series or is a great starting point for the traditional BIRTHFIT Postpartum Series.

Teacups & Tissues

BIRTHFIT NC is once again hosting own members-only intentional cry circle: Teacups & Tissues! But this time we’re opening it up for some brunch and mingling beforehand provided by some of our very talented members - Juicekeys, Pod Cafe, and Mangata Birth & Botanics will be providing food and drinks for the “Teacups” portion (9-10am). If you’re a BIRTHFIT NC participant, you’re welcome to stay for the “Tissues” part!

Details about a cry circle: most of us tend to try really hard to “hold it all together” all of the time. But realistically, we need to let go and express our big emotions. The actual point of this event is to come together and let yourself express what you’ve been struggling with, air out what’s been bothering you, and let your guard down so that you can get the weight of the world off your shoulders.

Due to the sensitive nature of the event, everyone is asked to sign a confidentiality agreement and the cry circle is only open to participants of BIRTHFIT NC classes.

In this four week series, you'll establish a functional foundation of movements to carry you through your Motherhood Transition.  

Working with a BIRTHFIT Coach and connecting with other pregnant women, you'll create intentional movement practices, enhance the three metabolic pathways, and prepare - both physically and non-physically - for your upcoming labor, birth, and postpartum period.  

No matter what your previous fitness level or what your birth plan is, join us to move with intention, cultivate stability in your changing body, and prepare for what's to come! 

Classes are Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-6:15pm, 3/4 through 3/27.

We’re raising money for our friend Corrinna Hodges for support and some deep healing as a result of a recent diagnosis of endometrial cancer. But rather than just fundraising, we want to celebrate that awesome person that Corrinna is and do something a little out of the box.

So bring out your hidden talents for a showcase! Whether it’s a Rubix cube, your old trumpet, a dance routine, or card tricks, we want to see what you’ve been hiding that might wow us.

And every penny we bring in will go to Corrinna. Here are the details:
