A BIRTHFIT Power Hour is a free one-hour event that introduces the four pillars of BIRTHFIT: fitness, nutrition, mindset, and connection. We discuss how these four pillars can support women through the Motherhood Transition: from preconception through at least the first year postpartum. And we'll get right into bringing these practices into your daily routine; 15 minutes of info followed by 45 minutes of a BIRTHFIT Movement Flow.

Climb Out of the Darkness is committed to bring people together, united, to honor the struggle to overcome Perinatal Mood or Anxiety Disorders. 1 in 5 new moms suffer from PMADs. Let’s shine our lights together to bring hope and wellness to parents in Raleigh.

Our team is raising money to benefit Postpartum Support International and Moms Supporting Moms, a local support group for moms with postpartum mood disorders.

Join the team and raise money and awareness! You can join the team, raise money and pledge to walk by pressing the "Sign up" button in the upper right hand corner of the Climb Out of the Darkness 2019 Facebook page. If you raise $100 or more, you will win an awesome T-shirt!! Please note, though, that there is no obligation to raise money: we would love to have you attend and walk with us whether or not you raise money.

We are mothers, survivors, supporters, and providers. We climb to let every mom know: You are not alone. You are not to blame. With help, you will be well.

We will gather at the shelter starting at 9:30 AM for some activities and then the walk (Climb) will start at 10:30 AM - it is a mile long on a shaded trail. It is stroller friendly! Snacks and water will be provided.

Spring Cleaning Detox

I’ve spent the past decade working to clean up most aspects of my life. The aim is progress rather than perfection (let's face it, my purple hair isn't made with beets and blueberries). But I’ve been trying to get rid of environmental toxins like formaldehyde, pesticides, phthalates, VOCs, and other cancer-causing, hormone-disrupting things commonly found in homes and yards in America.

I’ll admit, it can get a bit exhausting searching for it on my own or going to multiple events. So instead of telling you all of the scary stuff that’s out there and leaving you to fend for yourself, I want to bring lots of info into one event.

We have several different speakers ranging from herbal bitters to toxin-free cleaning, from Traditional Chinese Medicine to infrared saunas, and more.

The first half of the event will be presentations from our panel, followed by a Q&A session (which we’ll broadcast on our Facebook and Instagram pages!), and then starting around 2:30, we’ll open it up for some mingling, conversation, and getting to know each presenter’s expertise.

BIRTHFIT NC is once again hosting own members-only intentional cry circle: Teacups & Tissues! But this time we’re opening it up for some brunch and mingling beforehand provided by some of our very talented members - Juicekeys, Pod Cafe, and Mangata Birth & Botanics will be providing food and drinks for the “Teacups” portion (9-10am). If you’re a BIRTHFIT NC participant, you’re welcome to stay for the “Tissues” part!

Details about a cry circle: most of us tend to try really hard to “hold it all together” all of the time. But realistically, we need to let go and express our big emotions. The actual point of this event is to come together and let yourself express what you’ve been struggling with, air out what’s been bothering you, and let your guard down so that you can get the weight of the world off your shoulders.

Due to the sensitive nature of the event, everyone is asked to sign a confidentiality agreement and the cry circle is only open to participants of BIRTHFIT NC classes.

Breath & Flow is a special edition of our BIRTHFIT Postpartum Series that spans four weekly 90 minute classes. This series is designed for women that have had a baby in the last four to twelve weeks.

This class will meet on Fridays from 10-11:30am, 12/7 through 12/28. 

  • We'll start with breath work and evolve into full body functional motor patterns.

  • You will establish a solid core foundation, wake up your posterior chain, and enhance your posture through safe, effective movements that transfer to any activity in your daily life.

  • Come ready to move and connect with your breath and body again.

  • Non-mobile babies are welcome.

  • This course can serve as its own BIRTHFIT Postpartum Series or is a great starting point for the traditional BIRTHFIT Postpartum Series.

  • To introduce and discuss movement patterns & natural movement that will lay a foundation for recovery during the postpartum phase;
  • To instruct simple steps to implement BIRTHFIT principles into your training and lifestyle, as well as how BIRTHFIT can support you during this incredible time.  

The BIRTHFIT Workshop is ideal for women who are currently pregnant or are hoping to become pregnant soon, but is appropriate for any woman who is looking to improve herself and her health through movement and community.
